Shopping Small: Supporting Small Business Every Step of the Way

Shopping Small: Supporting Small Business Every Step of the Way

As a busy mom and a business owner, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to juggle work, family, and personal responsibilities. But one thing that's always been important to me is supporting small businesses.

In fact, I believe that shopping from small businesses is not only important but essential. Here's why.

Small businesses tend to offer unique and high-quality products that you won't find in larger chain stores. When you shop from a small business, you're often getting something that's handmade, locally sourced, or one-of-a-kind. In the case of CrockPockets®, it was an invention that stuck close to my heart, that literally came about from a conversation between myself and my husband at dinner one night. Small businesses sell products close to the heart. When you shop small, you're supporting the creativity and passion of the entrepreneur who created it!

Small businesses also tend to prioritize customer service and satisfaction. When you buy from a small business, you're often dealing directly with the owner (hi, hello, it’s me!) or a small team, rather than a faceless corporation. You know where “my team” is — we’re right here in Florida. I’m invested in the people buying CrockPockets® having a great experience with the product. We love seeing your recipes and hearing your questions.

But what about Amazon? Yes, Amazon is always tempting — trust me, I get it — but thanks to Amazon’s small business support structure, you can also support “the little guys” on large platforms too! CrockPockets are on Amazon, but we encourage people to shop through our website for a few reasons:

  1. Amazon takes a pretty hefty chunk out just from being on their platform. It’s a necessary evil, but if you want to support our brand more, always buy direct from us.
  2. We’re able to prioritize pre-orders way easier on our website! If anything in our Pockets line goes out of stock, we’re able to track that much easier than going back and forth with Amazon. .

Of course, as a busy mom, I understand that convenience is also a major factor in where we choose to shop. But the good news is that supporting small businesses doesn't have to be inconvenient. And while it may take a bit more effort to seek out and support small businesses, the benefits to our communities, our environment, and our personal satisfaction as consumers are well worth it.

All in all, to those of you who continue to support CrockPockets® and love our line — THANK YOU! You saw this idea born out of domestic frustration and embraced it. It means the world when you look for our CrockPockets® logo instead of opting for a faceless competitor.
